Radiation
Definition. Radiation is the emission and propagation of energy through space in the form of waves or particles.
Dental X-rays
X-rays are invisible waves of energy that allow your dentist to see differences in bone density. The images produced are seen on either film or digital display and are referred to as either radiographs or images. X-rays are one of the most important diagnostic tools in dentistry. Often they provide information about your mouth that would be impossible to detect through any other diagnostic tool. They're an essential part of any thorough oral exam.
Advances in technology are putting digital, computerized X-rays on the horizon. They emit far less radiation and for certain procedures, such as root canals, give more precise diagnostic images.
